Does Green Tea Drinking Reduce the Risk of Prostate Cancer?

February 28th, 2008 · No Comments

We know that green tea is good for you. Now a study from Japan’s National Cancer Center says it can even give men a 48% reduced risk of advanced prostate cancer. Of course you need to be drinking five cups of green tea a day or more. This percentage is a reduced risk over men you drank less than one cup a day.

However it looks like all the studies going on are coming up with different things. One Canadian study found just general tea drinking meant less risk of prostate cancer developing while a Chinese study found that the more tea you drank, increased frequency, the less risk of
malignancy”. But another Canadian study found no difference between general tea drinkers and those who miss out on the wonderful drink that is tea.

Maybe since it was about general tea drinkers, they were black tea drinkers and not green tea drinkers and that made the difference. Oh, looks like the first study’s authors pointed that out. They said the other studies also didn’t take into account the stage of cancer either. Oops.
