More and more studies are pointing out the benefits of drinking tea. Much of this is due to the flavonoids found in tea. In the latest report, thanks to our source, researchers have found that postmenopausal women, who have been diagnosed with breast cancer may have a reduced mortality rate. That is, if they have diets with higher levels of flavonoids.
In fact, if I read the abstract right, it appears to be the case even for premenopausal women who have high intakes of flavones, isoflavones and anthocyanidins in their diets. This was based on 1210 women first diagnosed with breast cancer between 1 August 1996 and 31 July 1997 and were followed through 31 Decemeber 2002.
As per usual, more studies and larger ones will need to be conducted to confirm the findings. Right now, it looks like another reason to enjoy a good cup, or six, of tea a day, especially good green tea, and keeping your overall diet full of flavonoids.
