What Does Lady Gaga Have to Do with Tea? and Tea Sales in the US
Twinings Tea with New Spokesperson?
Word from England has it that Twinings Tea is in talks with Lady Gaga’s people concerning her endorsing their product. Twinings Tea has been around for quite a while – since about 1706 and is one of the first companies to bring the new drink to England. Amazing how fast it became the national drink.
This is what may make it seem old hat though our next news item would suggest this is not so. However, in order to market their tea to a new generation, they began talks with Lady Gaga. Apparently she has a thing for tea and teacups. In fact, the source of our news here has a picture of her with a very lovely teacup and saucer. I have to say her outfit isn’t the most outrageous I’ve seen her in either.
Do you think if Twinings Tea succeeds in having her as their new spokesperson, it will bring in a new group of customers? Well, maybe if that doesn’t work, the health benefits of tea will.
Tea Making a Comeback in the U.S.?
As tea lovers we know that tea is a great drink. Now many Americans are joining the tea sippers. Sales of tea are up to $7,300,000,000 as of 2009 and the number of tea rooms and specialty stores have grown from 240 to 2400. That’s a big leap over the last ten years.
Our source for this news, the Orlando Sentinel, cites the health benefits of tea as one reason for this growing trend. They listed the findings from a UCLA study last year that drinking three or more cups of green or black tea can reduce the risk of stroke as one such health benefit.
A couple of their quotes even talk about how enjoying a cup of tea can help you relax. And we all know how reducing our stress can be beneficial to our health.
