Tea Wares

A while back I posted news about disposable tea sticks from Petit Tea. In a post from the Gadgeteer, I learned about reusable tea sticks that can be used with loose leaf tea. This particular post was about the new teastick Gems from Gamila.

They are made of a material called Eastman Tritan which is a trademarked term. This material has been FDA approved, is taste free and has no Bisphenol-A. On The Gadgeteer post, there are some excellent photos showing the new Gems and how to work with them.

Also available at the Gamila site is the “Original Teastick”. It is made of stainless steel with very fine holes. It is made to hold enough tea to infuse into a 10-14 ounce cup of hot water. Gamila also has a Teastick gift set featuring the original teastick and Assam Khongea from Premium Steap.

This will be a quick post with something a little different. If you are a tea towel collector, you might be interested in this site I found with a collection of tea towels, among other fabric items. Some are vintage such as can be found on this page: Tea Towels. I simply did a search on tea towels to come up with that listing.

Also available are some knock outs from FlowerPress here: Russian Tea Towels. A couple have very vivid colors and could make a great addition to the tea lover’s kitchen.

For a change of taste, meaning those who want to try teas, check out the Obama and McCain teas available from Pearl Fine Teas. Our source of information on this is the Tea Guy and his post about the Obama & McCain Tea Blends.

If you are an iced tea lover, you might want to consider Tea Forte’s ® new Tea-Over-Ice ™ system. They have issued a press release announcing this “new” system for what they call flash chilling of the tea.

Essentially the tea system consists of two clear pots stacked one on top of the other. The tea is brewed in the top pot. Once done, it is poured into the bottom pot which is waiting full of ice. This quick pouring of hot tea over ice then “instantly locking in the freshness and unique flavor of the tea infusions. This flash-chilling revolution brings an unprecedented freshness and delivers the healthful and rejuvenating elements of antioxidant-rich hot tea to the iced tea experience. The end result is a wholly authentic, natural iced tea, free of sugar and preservatives.”

More than anything, this Tea-Over-Ice ™ system simply looks like two tea pitchers stacked one on top of the other. Together they look very artistic and “cool”. Yep, I said it. For a look at the new system go to our source or teaforte.com.

What Tea Forte ® is pushing is their made for iced tea tea blends such as White Ginger Pear and Pomegranate Blackberry to be used with their “new” system. Yum! Those sound good.

However, I achieve this effect by simply brewing a pot or cup of tea and then pouring it right over a mug with ice. Guess I have been “flash chilling” all this time and didn’t know. Just knew no one else in the family drank iced tea at home and wanted to keep amounts made at a time down.
