Now this was a new tea idea to me but makes sense with all the in-home parties to sell all kinds of things like baskets, Tupperware, and supplements. This was an article from the Vancouver Sun discussing tea and tea parties.
The subject of the article is David Pidhirney who conducts these in-home tea parties. He owns the Totalitea store in Calgary. He only charges $5 a person but brings along several teas in hopes that the guests will buy a few of those. It is a two hour party where he tells the participants about tea history, the growing of the plants and the characteristics of different teas.
In the article, it mentions that he served a Pu-Erh, an Oolong, a rooibus, a Yerba Mate, a matcha, and a flowering jasmine among others. He also gives some information about the tea grades and what to look for in a tea. Maybe this idea can help someone else develop their own tea party system.

Two notes today on ways to get tea goodies. The first is actually a way that combines a love of tea with a love of books – children’s books, that is. The Trades, which appears to be some type of review/contest site aimed at making affiliate commissions, has a contest for a signed copy of the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson’s newest book, Tea for Ruby. It looks like it would be a great book for teaching different manners and rules on acceptable behavior to children. I think it would be cool for the kids, so entered myself. In my mind, anything that mixes books with tea is a very good thing.
The second way to get tea goodies is to join the tea swap started by Jessica (Authori+ea) and Nikki (Tea Escapade). Members will swap two samples of loose leaf teas or sachet/silken pouch teas (2 pouches each) every two weeks. Who you send to switches every month. If you want to widen your tea to sample without having to buy a lot, you might want to give this a try. Please check the tea swap for more information on how to join.

If you live in North Carolina or nearby and would like to take a traditional English tea, now is the time to get your tickets for the Christmas Tea at the Biltmore Estate. Tickets are on sale at Lionscrest on the Biltmore Estate.
Not only will there be a traditional English tea with sandwiches, pastries and other treats, there will also be live holiday music from Dickensian carolers as well as other classical music. Santa will be there for the obligatory chat on Sanata’s knee and photo. Not only can the photo commemorate the event, you will also get a holiday ornament.
The purpose of the Christmas Tea is to benefit of Eliada Homes.
