I got a chuckle reading this column at the fwdailynews.com website called “Chocolate, tea and wine help memory” which was written by Dr. Terry Gaff. Essentially he quickly discusses an Oxford University study on the effects of the three substances on memory. The two thousand people in the study were between 70 and 74 years of age.
Although the study found wine to have the “most pronounced single effect”, the doctor points at that those who ate and drank all three did the best on the brain tests that were given to participants. This is probably due to the flavonoids in each that can reduce the risk of developing dementia according to research.
But what was funny in the column was the doctor’s recall of a “Cheers” episode where Cliff recounts his Buffalo Theory of why drinking a few beers makes you feel smarter. If you don’t recall the episode, perhaps a couple of cups of tea or a glass of wine is in order. It is worth going to the column to enjoy the story. The whole article is written in such a way as to bring a smile to the lips or allow a chuckle to escape.
